Altivo - Barrel Selection - Cabernet Sauvignon

DESCRIPTION / TASTING NOTE

Bright medium red-ruby. Aromas of cassis, licorice and mint. Juicy, fine-grained and nicely delineated, with a restrained sweetness to the currant and menthol flavors. Rather suave, understated cabernet, not at all thick or sloppy. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins.

ABOUT PRODUCER

The young and talented winemaker at Altivo Christan Garcia has crafted a beautiful wine from 80 years old vineyard in Cafayate in the province of Salta. The vineyard is planted on land purchased by the pioneering Eugenio Bustos. With the Andes ever present to the west, an abundance of pure "melt water" when required, the vines are nurtured by long sunny days, and cool nights. The vineyard is essentially organic. Given the pristine environment there is little need for more than a few organic sprays per year.
