DESCRIPTION / TASTING NOTE

Orube Rioja is a powerful wine - both intense and complex while retaining elegance. Made from Tempranillo grapes grown on an estate located in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabrica at an altitude of 650 metres. The grapes are highly concentrated, small in size, having been carefully tended throughout the year to produce a perfect level of ripeness which delivers the fruity character so typical of Orube. Hand harvested, selecting the best bunches which are brought to the winery in small boxes, where the selection process is continued, and the grapes are then fermented in small vats which help the maceration process and produce the appropriate levels of structure for this wine. Before swirling the glass aromas of cocoa, confectionery and vanilla dominate, but once the wine is swirled notes of black fruit and stone fruit appear, along with an intense aroma of liquorice, cloves and balsamic notes. On the palate it is powerful, rich and shows ripe tannins. The back palate is rich in ground coffee flavours. Elegant, complex and with a long finish.

ABOUT PRODUCER

The Solar Viejo wineries have been producing wines with the personality of the Rioja Designation of Origin for more than 75 years. Founded in 1937 in La Guardia (Alava) The original winery was founded in one of the emblematic manor houses of Laguardia, within the walled enclosure of the town. That's where the first Solar Viejo, the most iconic wine in the winery, began to be made. The current facilities, built more than 30 years ago, are located in the immediate vicinity of the town and keep the essence of that first experience.
