Freixenet - Reserva Real - Brut

DESCRIPTION / TASTING NOTE

The Reserva Real is an elegant, lively, long-aged brut cava with a good structure. It was first launched in 1987 in celebration of the visit of the Spanish King and Queen to the Freixenet facility. This rather special Cava has two Spanish words in its title. Reserva refers to wines that are aged for longer. And Real is the Spanish word for Royal, as the King made the very first tasting at the Winery in October 1987. A cava with a yellow colour with straw highlights and abundant fine bubbles that form a prominent crown. On the nose, it presents the powerful bouquets of its aging, with a prevalence of soft toasted notes that are in perfect harmony with the aromas of dried fruit, yeast, pastries, ripe fruit, honey and a balsamic touch.

ABOUT PRODUCER

Over 150 years ago, in the small Catalan town of Sant Sarduní d´Anoia the Sala and Ferrer families were well-known winemakers of quality wines. At the beginning of the 20th century the families were joined by the marriage of Dolores Sala and Pedro Ferrer Bosh. The young couple formed an unrivalled team, Dolores ahead of her time in detailed winemaking knowledge and Pedro, a bright young entrepreneur. Together they succeeded in gaining popularity and reputation for their wines and their hard work and determination was the start of Freixenet as we know it today, the largest producer of traditional method sparkling wine worldwide.
